In the furtherance of delivering specialized protection to our clients, USPA has established a full service Maritime Division whose mission is to provide a visible presence in support of waterfront events where our Event Security and Executive Protection Divisions are operating. When the need to fulfill our client’s needs entail going beyond the water’s edge, it can and often does require the utilization of an adequately trained and properly equipped team of Security Operatives. Dive Team
The USPA Underwater Search and Recovery (Dive) Team provides water rescue and underwater investigative services to our clientele. Composed of highly skilled SCUBA divers who are mentally and physically prepared to respond to water related incidents under dangerous environmental conditions, the Team is committed to the preservation of life, and recovery of lost or stolen property.
Port Security Service
The issue of security at the nation’s seaports has been the subject of a recent concern on the part of americans, as has the broader issue of homeland security. In fall 2000, the Interagency Commission on Crime and Security in U.S. Seaports reported that security at seaports needed to be improved in a number of areas, including:
* Assessments of threats, vulnerabilities, and critical infrastructure at ports;
* Coordination and cooperation among agencies; and
* Establishment of guidelines for commercial facilities handling certian cargo.
There is a wide range of vulnerabilities at strategic seaports, including critical infrastructure; such as bridges and refineries in close proximity to open shoreline, shipping containers with unknown contents, and an enormous volume of foreign and domestic shipping traffic.
